Crankk Rank v2.1 and location set
Rank v2.1 is an incremental update to v2.0 with the main feature being that statistics are collected into weekly buckets instead of running indefinitely.
The main idea with this incremental version is that we’ll show 2 percentage scores. One is last week’s result and the other is the one being collected in real-time. With the turn of the week this will be shifted to be current and the upcoming starts collecting. This will enable you to work on your score and improve it for the upcoming week.
Other than that, as has been communicated, we have started uploading these scores as well as the fact whether the gateway’s location is set or not to the blockchain so that we get closer to these scores being taken into consideration when calculating rewards. While we still want to collect feedback on the score we’re ready to apply the location set fact in the earnigns. As of the date and time specified in the announcedment gateways with location unset will earn just 0.00003 CRKK per transaction, however it only takes a minute to correct it if found to be so. Once location is set in the dashboard it should take less than 15 minutes for it to show on the blockchain.
Everything else is the same as in the previous version with this being an incremental release.
Our hope is that with more “real-time” data, gateway operators will have a shorter feedback loop on what matters in terms of improvement. At the same time, with the score becoming more testable it also opens up more chances for manipulation. I think we can expect that. To that we can say that we’ve committed ourselves to an open and public ranking system that, according to our hopes, is based on a technical foundation that will enable us to hand out rewards fairly, reflecting a gateway’s real contribution to coverage. To be able to improve on correctly measuring both the legitimate improvements and detect potential manipulations, we need more data and more time-relevant data.
